It’s that time of the year again to begin putting forth your recommendations for Legionnaire of the year!
Please keep in mind this should be a member in good standing that has shown exemplary commitment to the branch, going above and beyond their contributing duties.
Place all nominations in a sealed envelope including the person’s full name, and reason why you feel they should be nominated for this award. Drop them in the PRO slot on the back of the Members Lounge door.
Cut-off date for nominations is November 5, 2016.

The Grafton Legion Colour Party will be at the Remembrance Service at St. George’s Anglican Church on Sunday, November 6th (9am?) and will then attend another service at Victoria College for 11:30am.

Ontario Command Homeless Veterans Report
Comrades our Homeless Program continues to grow in numbers and expand across our Command. As of August 12th our statistics are;
- 418 Veterans assisted, (this number is likely closer to 500 when “unreported instances” of veterans that have been assisted by branches are included)
- 242 Veterans have been housed.
- $494,000.00, has been dispersed in the form of gift cards, tokens, bus tickets etc., when the dispersments to;
- Mainstay (Parliament St. & Bathurst St.)
- MultiFaith Housing (Ottawa-Rockcliff proposal)
- Pan Am Games Housing (10 refurbished units for veterans) are included that number reaches $1,500,000.00.
The Bus Tour is on Oct 22/16 leaving legion at 10am sharp returning approx. 6:30pm
Cost is $20.00 a person must be paid by Oct 14/16
1st stop: Sand Banks Winery for 5 wine tasting & 3 side dishes
2nd stop: Lunch at the Wellington Legion
3rd stop: Trenton Legion for afternoon of entertainment by the band the Farrows 50/60 music
4th stop: Brighton Legion

Bus seats 48 and at the time of this posting 31 people have already signed up!
Sign up sheet will be posted in Grafton Legion on Tuesday and you can pay at the bar. This will likely fill up fast.
Join us on Friday September 30, 2015 from 5-6:30pm for a Steak BBQ and Corn Roast, only $15/per person. Limited seating. Advance reservations only. Sign up sheet in Member’s Lounge and you can pay at the bar. Following the dinner, at 7pm, stick around for Northumberland County’s Country Duo Franny & Beeb’z as they entertain us in the Hall until 9pm. A great meal, great entertainment, all for just $15/person!

Early Bird renewals are now on! From now until November 30th, 2016, renew your membership and you are entered into a draw to have your 2018 membership fee paid for! Regular member renewals are $55 and Seniors 65+ are $40.00.

On Saturday September 17, 2016, the Grafton Legion is host to two fundraisers, which will help sponsor Terri Monroe get to the World Broomball Championships in Regina, Saskatchewan!
First up is a Bake Sale from 9am to Noon. That is to be followed by a Fun Dart Tournament in the afternoon! Please come out and join us and help Sponsor Terri!
