This year on Sunday September 28, 2025 we will be holding the 2025 Annual Zone F-2 Drumhead Service in Grafton with a multiple Branch and LA Colour Parties Parade from St. Georges Church to the Cenotaph.
The road closure detour map is shown and will become effective at 12:30pm to allow for parade setup and will be in effect until the completion of the Service at the Cenotaph.
County Road 2 will be closed from Old Danforth Road (Lass and the Ladle) to Brimley Road South.
Anyone attending should arrive by 12:30pm.
The Drumhead Service is a tradition that dates back to the 1700’s. On the battlefields, there was often no way for soldiers to attend church, to worship and pray. Instead, the Padre or Chaplain would hold a “Drumhead Service” – creating a temporary altar on the field, using military drums draped with the regimental or National flags. Drumhead Services are still held, as a salute to those who fought on battlefields around the world, and made the ultimate sacrifice. Zone F-2 is the only Zone in Ontario carrying on this tradition.
