Royal Canadian Legion 100th Year Anniversary

FREE – Open House and Pig Roast Dinner – July 17, 2026

The Grafton Legion is celebrating the 100th year Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion and on Friday July 17, 2026 you are invited to attend an open house from 1-6pm to view a military display, courtesy of Col (Ret’d) Terry Honour of the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment museum, and featuring a World War II M38 Jeep with a mounted 106 mm recoilless rifle. Inside there will be more displays from the museum with displays of Grafton Legion activities including our annual cemetery grave decorations and donations to the community.

Please stay for Opening Ceremonies to take place at 4pm with Town Crier Liam Cragg, and speeches from Alnwick/Haldimand Township Deputy Mayor Joan Stover, Grafton Legion President John Grozelle and Grafton Ladies Auxiliary President Heather Atkins.

After the opening ceremonies a blessing will be performed by Branch Chaplain Jean Wilson and the cutting of the Anniversary cake.

You will then be invited to partake in our pig roast dinner, where you can have your choice of buns and the following salads: Potato Salad, Garden Salad, Caesar Salad, Coleslaw, Macaroni Salad and Greek Salad. Dinner includes a piece of anniversary cake.

Music will be provided by Gerry Freymann.

There will be limited inside seating available but please bring your lawn chairs as there will be tents setup outside.

We welcome everyone to stop by and help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion.
