It is with great sadness we inform you of the sudden passing of Deputy District D Commander – Wayne Powell. The Powell family will be reflecting privately at this time, a Legion service will be requested for the summer of 2021 if COVID-19 restrictions permit. Please feel free to send condolences to Mrs. Sue Powell and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Comrade Wayne’s favourite charities the Legion Poppy Fund or Easter Seals.
Comrade Wayne held many positions within the organization, including but not limited to, President Br. 258 Highland Creek, Zone D-5 Commander, Deputy District D Commander for the past 2 terms as well as a Director of Charitable Foundation. He was the District ‘D’ Poppy Chairman for many, many years up to the present time. Many of you know his email address was the “poppyguy@….”. Wayne made many contributions to Legionnaires including those in District D, Zone D5, and many Branches. His presence will be, and is, already missed.
